About

Hello!  I’m an artist, designer, and author who loves creating unique lettering projects, surface designs, and illustrations. I studied art and design at Appalachian State University, Penland School of Craft, and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. After earning a Master of Fine Arts degree from East Carolina University in 2013, I followed my passion of creating art and teaching workshops and classes around the world, online and in person.

Inspiration & Process

I gather inspiration from my travels, nature, and vintage signs and books, and incorporate them into my surface designs, lettering, and illustrations.  All of my designs and lettering are created by hand starting with rough sketches and ending with finished designs in raster or vector format.

Teaching

I’m proud to be a Top Teacher on Skillshare, a designation for the top 1% of teachers. I’ve created 50+ Skillshare classes on a wide range of art and design topics, and cultivated an online community of artists and designers from every background and skill level who share their work, provide feedback, and offer support to help each other improve and advance their creative goals.

You can learn more about my classes, book, and iPad art and design resources at LizKohlerBrown.com.
